It was a fine Friday morning, not too sunny or too gloomy. It was a welcoming weather for Saraswathi Kendra Learning Centre (SKLC) to celebrate its 31st annual sports day at the YMCA ground. The day began with a lot of energy and enthusiasm which was at its peak throughout the event.
The sports day began at 9 AM. Our Correspondent Mr. Prashanth Krishna graced the event with his presence and cheering the students throughout the event. Our Alumni, Ms. Madhumitha, who is currently a tennis player, cordially accepted our invitation to be the guest of honour.
Dr. Nanditha Krishna, Honorary President of The C.P. Ramaswamy Aiyar Foundation and Mrs. Marlene Kamdar, Honorary Principal of SKLC, sent their best wishes and prayers though they could not be present during the event.
The events began with a march past by the four teams- Tigers, Cheetahs, Jaguars and Panthers. Following the march past, the torch was lit by Ms. Madhumitha after which she delivered an inspiring speech encouraging the students to follow their passion whole heartedly. Following this, each team put up an uniform drill with hola hoops, pom poms, wooden dumb bells and sticks which was a feast to the eye.
There was a massive changeover after the drill! The students excitedly changed to their sports attire, adding more colour and josh to an already lively morning. The field events took place alongside for both the juniors as well as the seniors. Each one of them was the star of the day, at least to the photographer on field! The field events came to an end with a tug of war (we saved the best for the last :)). In spite of the brighter sunshine and the energy drain, the students’ vigour doubled during the tug of war!
The Jagaurs team emerged as the overall winners! Kudos to all the teams, teachers and staff for making our 31st annual sports day yet another success! Hip-Hip Hurray! 🙂
Here are some of our frozen moments 🙂
